Gaby Kamanzi Has a Thirst to Meet Worship Icon Darlene Zschech

GABY KAMANZI

When Gaby Kamanzi steps onto a stage, something shifts in the atmosphere. It is not just a performance; it is a moment of encounter. Those who have witnessed her lead worship often describe the same feeling: it is as if heaven itself draws near, and for a few moments, the distance between earth and eternity becomes thin.

She is known as the “Angel of Gospel,” and for many Rwandans especially young women; she is a living example of what it means to serve God with excellence, humility, and unwavering faith.

A Voice That Carries More Than Notes

Born Irene Ingabire Kamanzi on June 12, 1981, in Lubumbashi, Katanga Province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gaby Kamanzi has become one of Rwanda’s most respected and beloved gospel artists.

Her journey is not one of sudden fame, but of faithful service; a Lady who has dedicated decades to worship, and whose voice has become a vessel of healing and hope for thousands.

Her song “Amahoro” (Peace) remains one of her most recognized tracks, but her discography is filled with songs that carry the weight of sincere devotion.

Those who follow her music closely note that she possesses a rare gift: she does not just sing – she ministers.

Every note comes from a place of deep intimacy with God, and every lyric is a reflection of a heart that has been shaped by both joy and suffering.

An International Ambassador of Worship

Gaby Kamanzi has been invited to minister in various countries across the world, and she is widely regarded as one of Rwanda’s top international gospel artists.

She has received numerous awards, all of which testify to her exceptional vocal ability and her anointing.

But despite her success, she remains strikingly humble. In an exclusive interview with Global Vibe News, she spoke not of her achievements, but of her love for God and her desire to see others come to know Him.

A Heart That Honors God Above All

For Gaby, worship is not a career – it is a calling. She made it clear that she does not sing for applause, but to glorify the God who sustains her and all of creation.

“I believe God created us to exalt Him using the gifts He bestowed upon us. There is nothing else worth singing about other than that magnificent, mighty God – the very God who sustains us and all the creation around us.”

Her humility is evident in how she speaks about her music. One of her most personal songs, “Ungirira Neza” (You Treat Me Well), became the title of her debut album. She describes the song as a reminder that God shows goodness to humanity despite our flaws.

“We are flawed people who constantly hurt Him… and failing to rejoice in God is wrong.”

The Voice Behind the Smile

Gaby KAMANZI is rarely seen without a smile. She treats media professionals with respect and is known for her warmth and kindness. Many young women look up to her as a role model not just because of her talent, but because of her character.

She is a praise and worship leader, a veteran in gospel music, and a Lady who loves people deeply. Her interactions with fans and the media reflect a heart that is genuinely caring. She is not distant or proud; she is approachable, real, and full of grace.

The Thirst to Meet Darlene Zschech

One of the most striking moments in the interview came when Gaby spoke about Darlene Joyce Zschech; the renowned Australian worship leader and singer behind songs like “Shout to the Lord.”

Gaby’s eyes lit up as she spoke of Darlene, not as a celebrity, but as a source of inspiration and a spiritual mentor from afar.

“I still love her, want to meet her and I know that Jesus will do it; I believe it. She inspired me so much. She gave me courage to serve the Lord. When I looked at her, I felt like I wanted to be like her.”

She spoke of the way Darlene sings, freely, joyfully, and from the depths of her heart.

“You could see something in her heart even before she started singing. She sings from the heart; things that have a source, things that are deep inside her.”

It was while watching Darlene’s songs that Gaby felt God speak to her, calling her to worship and prayer.

“God called me. He told me, ‘I called you to worship and pray to Me.’ That time happened when I was watching Darlene’s songs. That is why today, she is a special person for me. I have a desire to sit with her and spend time, talk to her and I know that Jesus will do it. I trust that.”

A Testimony of Grace

Gaby also spoke openly about her journey of faith. She acknowledged that life has not always been easy, but through every trial, God has been faithful.

“I thank God… God has been with me through difficult times; moments of discouragement and times of suffering. God allowed me to go through these experiences because He wanted to teach me something. I endured hardships yet remained steadfast in my salvation.”

Her message to others is simple yet profound:

“Love God and believe in Him. There is no other way than to receive Jesus in your heart and start a new journey with Christ.”
