Can you tell us a bit about your personal life as a married man and how your family supports you on this journey?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Thank you. My family is like any other, and I’ve received a lot of support from them throughout my life. I can say I’ve been very fortunate in this regard.

Can you share a defining moment in your football career that shaped who you are today?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Football has changed my life completely. Everything I have is because of football, and I’ve met important people because of it. So, I can say football is my life.

What challenges did you face transitioning from a professional footballer to a coach, and how did you overcome them?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Haha, before I didn’t realize how difficult coaching could be, but now I see how hard it is. To be a good coach, you need to be serious, respect the players, and take responsibility for everything in your team—from player management to many other aspects of the job.

What do you consider the most critical qualities a coach must possess to inspire and lead a team effectively?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
First and foremost, a coach should show courtesy to everyone because they set a good example for the players, who will then follow suit.

How has living in the UK shaped your perspective on football compared to your experiences in Rwanda?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Football here is on a much higher level, so you can’t really compare the two countries. However, football around the world is fundamentally the same; the difference lies in money, experience, and infrastructure, but on the pitch, it’s the same.

Have you noticed any significant differences in the football culture between Rwanda and the UK? How have those differences impacted your career?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
People here are passionate about football. They know how to analyze it and have great respect for players because they understand the value of the player. For me, I’ve learned how to make fans happy, enjoy the game, and be respected in return.

What are your long-term goals as a coach, and how do you see yourself contributing to the global football community?

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Every new coach in football has long-term plans, and I have big ambitions to help with coaching everywhere in the world. There are no limits to my coaching career.

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
Yes, definitely. I plan to do so in the future once everything is in order.

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
I miss my family, especially my kids, and all my friends. There are many things I miss.

NIZEYIMANA Alphonse:
I would tell the younger generation that everything is possible if you have courtesy towards everyone and work hard.

Haha, it was amazing. It was a dream come true, and I really enjoyed that moment.

Yes, of course. Especially when I talk to kids about my career, they feel inspired to be like me. That’s how they sometimes get great motivation from their coach.

I try to follow different clubs here and visit various teams, especially big clubs and academies. I also conduct research on modern football.

I’d like to share my experience in the future because now I have more knowledge of modern football. I will try to pass on the knowledge I have now.

Football is about discipline, working hard, and not forgetting to go to school, because a football career has its limits.

We still have a lot to do in our country, such as establishing academies, which is the first step, and improving infrastructure, which is also crucial.
